How many Google reviews you need to rank: the 10, 20, 50, and 100+ milestones, plus the competitor formula to find your exact target.

I wrote this for owners and marketers who are paying for Podium every month and quietly wondering whether they need all of it. Below are the eight best Podium alternatives in 2026, compared on what they actually cost, how they collect reviews, what real users rate them, and which kind of business each one fits.
Every price on this page was checked against the vendor's own pricing page before publishing. Where a vendor does not publish a price, I say that plainly instead of quoting a number I cannot verify. I have also flagged where a tool is not listed on G2 or Capterra yet, including our own, because a comparison page that hides that is not worth reading.
The best Podium alternative depends on what you were actually using Podium for. If you signed up mainly to grow Google reviews, a focused review tool costs a fraction of a full communication suite and does that one job better. If you need the whole bundle, there are closer like-for-like swaps.
Podium is a capable product. The reasons people leave it are rarely about whether the software works. In the reviews left on Podium's G2 profile, four themes come up again and again, and they match what I hear from businesses that switch to us.
Price relative to what gets used. Podium is built as an all-in-one inbox. If your team lives in that inbox every day, the cost makes sense. If you bought it because you wanted more Google reviews and the rest came along for the ride, you are paying suite pricing for one feature. Reviewers describe it as one of the more expensive tools for a small business, and that gap widens when you multiply it across locations.
Add-ons that were not in the sales conversation. Extra phone seats and 10DLC messaging compliance charges are the two that reviewers mention most. Neither is unreasonable on its own. Both are easier to accept when you knew about them before signing.
Contract terms. Several reviewers describe being billed monthly but committed annually, with auto renewal and a cancellation process that is harder than the signup was. If you are evaluating alternatives, the renewal date on your Podium agreement is the single most important thing to look up today, because it sets your real switching window.
Features locked behind higher tiers. Entry plans carry limits that catch people out, including bulk messaging caps that do not roll over. Unused credits disappear, which punishes businesses that run campaigns in bursts rather than evenly across the month.
None of that makes Podium a bad product. It makes it a specific product, aimed at businesses that want one inbox for everything. If that is not you, the rest of this page is the shortlist.
This is the part most alternatives pages skip, which is exactly why most alternatives pages read like ads. Here is the criteria I used, applied to every tool on the list including our own.
Reviewly.ai is first on this list because it meets all six. It is also our product, which you should factor in. The prices, ratings and gaps for every other tool are reported the same way, so you can check my work.
| Tool | Best for | Starting price | Rating | Terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reviewly.ai | Google review growth over SMS | $99 per month | 4.9 on Google, 54 reviews | Monthly or annual, 14-day trial |
| Birdeye | Multi-location and enterprise swap | Custom quote | 4.7 on G2, 4,235 reviews | Quote based |
| GoHighLevel | Agencies and white label resellers | $97 per month | 4.6 on G2, 651 reviews | Month to month, 14-day trial |
| NiceJob | Home and field service businesses | $75 per month | 4.8 on G2, 419 reviews | No contract, 14-day trial |
| Weave | Dental, medical and optometry | $199 per month | 4.6 on G2, 471 reviews | Quote based by tier |
| Emitrr | Practices needing texting and phones | Custom quote | 4.8 on G2, 24 reviews | Quote based, no free trial |
| HiFiveStar | Lowest cost review collection | Free, paid from $28 | Not listed on G2 or Capterra | No contracts, no setup fees |
| Trophy Jar | Requests triggered by jobs and invoices | $9 per month | Not listed on G2 or Capterra | 14-day money-back guarantee |

Reviewly.ai is built around one job: getting more real Google reviews from the customers you already served, and helping you answer them quickly. We send review requests by SMS, draft responses with AI, and give you a dashboard that shows what is working, without asking you to move your phone system or your inbox. If you liked the review half of Podium and resented paying for the rest, this is the category we sit in.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Priced as a review tool, not a suite | No third-party software review listing yet |
| SMS requests plus offline QR and NFC capture | Not a phone system or shared team inbox |
| AI drafts responses you stay in control of | Best fit is Google, not every review site |
If you want the longer version of how this category is priced across the market, we broke it down in our guide to reputation management pricing.

Birdeye is the closest thing on this list to a like-for-like Podium replacement. It covers reviews, listings, social, surveys, webchat, appointment scheduling and customer experience analytics, and in 2026 it packages much of that under AI assistants it calls Jay, Myna and Robin. It is aimed squarely at multi-location brands and franchises rather than single-site businesses.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Deepest feature set on this list | No published pricing to compare against |
| Very large public review base | Weighted toward multi-location and enterprise |
| Strong listings and social coverage | Same bundle problem people left Podium over |
We have a dedicated breakdown if this is the direction you are leaning, covering the same ground for Birdeye alternatives.

GoHighLevel is a marketing operating system with reputation management inside it. Reviews are one module alongside CRM, funnels, calendars, email, SMS and automation, and the whole thing can be white labeled and resold. For an agency, that combination is hard to beat. For a single restaurant, it is a lot of product to administer.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Published pricing and no long contract | Reviews are one module among many |
| Unlimited users on every tier | Real setup and learning curve |
| White label and resale built in | Overkill for a single-location business |
If you are an agency weighing this against narrower options, our roundup of the best agency tools for Google reviews compares them side by side, and we cover the branding angle in our guide to white label SMS tools for agencies.

NiceJob calls itself reputation marketing rather than reputation management, and the distinction shows in the product. It collects reviews, then puts them to work through social proof widgets on your site, automatic social sharing and referral prompts. It is a natural fit for home services, trades and anyone whose next job comes from someone seeing the last one.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Excellent public rating and clear pricing | No phone system or unified inbox |
| Turns reviews into website and social proof | AI replies sit on the higher tier |
| Free trial with no card required | Website add-on carries a setup fee |

Weave is what Podium looks like when it is rebuilt for a dental, optometry or medical front desk. It combines the phone system, texting, scheduling, reminders, payments and reviews, and it connects to practice management systems rather than generic CRMs. If your bottleneck is the front desk rather than marketing, this is the closest match on the list.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Built specifically for practice front desks | Only the entry price is published |
| Phones, texting and reviews in one place | Not a fit outside healthcare verticals |
| Onboarding included on every plan | Replacing your phone system is a bigger project |

Emitrr sits close to Weave but leans harder on automation and integrations. It runs business texting from your existing number, adds a VoIP phone system, online scheduling, digital forms, faxing and an AI agent that handles confirmations and follow ups, and it requests reviews automatically after appointments. It is HIPAA compliant and connects to a large number of vertical CRMs.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very high ratings on both platforms | No published pricing at all |
| HIPAA compliant with deep CRM integrations | No free trial listed |
| Texting, phones and reviews in one product | Smaller public review base than the majors |

HiFiveStar is the budget entry on this list and the only one with a genuinely free tier. It focuses on collecting and replying to reviews, with AI drafts, request links, QR codes and widgets, and its pricing ladder is built around how many locations you run rather than how many features you unlock.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Real free tier and the lowest paid entry price | No third-party ratings to verify against |
| Fully published pricing ladder by location | No phone system or shared inbox |
| No contracts or setup fees | Branding stays until the $197 tier |

Trophy Jar does one narrow thing well. It watches the systems you already use, and when a job is marked complete or an invoice is paid, it fires a review request at that moment. If your problem is not knowing which tool to buy but simply never getting around to asking, the trigger-based model solves it for less than most people spend on coffee.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Lowest price on this list by a wide margin | Newest and least proven product here |
| Trigger-based requests need no manual work | No ratings on the major review platforms |
| Unlimited integrations on both plans | Narrow scope, reviews only |
Ignore feature lists for a moment. The right choice falls out of four questions, and you can answer all of them in about ten minutes.
Open your Podium account and look at the last 30 days. If almost all the activity is review invites and review replies, you are paying suite pricing for a review tool, and any of the focused options here will cover you. If your team genuinely lives in the shared inbox handling webchat, calls and social messages all day, then you need a suite, and the real comparison is Birdeye or Weave rather than a review tool.
Pricing models diverge sharply here. Some tools charge per location, some bundle locations into tiers, and some barely change price as you add sites. A three-location business can pay wildly different amounts for the same capability depending on which model it lands in. Work out your per-location cost at your actual count, not at one location, before you compare anything.
This is the question that decides how hard your switch is. Changing a review tool takes an afternoon. Changing the phone system your front desk answers takes planning, number porting and staff training. If Podium is running your phones, either budget for a proper migration to something like Weave or Emitrr, or keep your phones where they are and swap only the review layer.
Find your renewal date before you fall in love with a replacement. If auto renewal is 60 days out, you have a decision to make this month. If it just renewed, you have time to trial two options properly and move at the next window. Either way, do this first, because it changes which shortlist is realistic.
The fear that keeps people on a tool they have outgrown is usually the switch itself. In practice, here is what it involves.
Your reviews do not move, because they were never yours to move. Every Google review lives on your Google Business Profile, not inside Podium. Cancelling does not delete a single one. This is the point most people get wrong, and it is worth saying plainly: changing review software has no effect on your existing review count or your star rating.
Export your contacts before you cancel, not after. Customer lists, message history and any templates you want to keep should come out while you still have access. Set a calendar reminder for a week before your renewal date.
Keep your phone number where it is if you can. If Podium is not hosting your main business line, leave the phone system alone and swap only the review layer. That turns a migration into a configuration change.
Rebuild your request timing deliberately. Whatever tool you land on, the timing of the ask matters more than the wording. We covered the mechanics of that in our guide to automated Google review requests, and the ranking side of it in how reviews affect Google rankings.
Podium is a good choice for local businesses that want one inbox for texts, calls, webchat, social messages and reviews, and that have the volume to justify suite pricing. It rates 4.5 out of 5 from more than 2,100 reviews on G2 and 4.2 from 526 reviews on Capterra, so the product itself is well regarded. It is a poor choice for a business that signed up mainly to collect Google reviews, because you end up paying for a communication platform to use one module of it.
Podium's inbox brings together text messages, phone calls, website chat, social messages and reviews in a single shared view, so a team can see the full history with a customer in one conversation thread rather than switching between apps.
Podium can request feedback automatically once an integrated system reports a completed transaction or appointment. Its review automations connect to tools including Shopify, QuickBooks, MindBody, HubSpot, Salesforce, Nextech, Outlook and Mailchimp, so the invite fires after the triggering event, such as a paid invoice or a finished visit, rather than being sent by hand. Most alternatives on this list work the same way, and Trophy Jar is built entirely around that trigger model.
Podium's main differentiation is consolidation plus AI. It positions itself as an AI-powered inbox that handles every customer channel in one place, with an AI assistant that drafts personalized review invitations and responses. Competitors tend to be either narrower and cheaper, like a dedicated review tool, or broader and enterprise-focused, like Birdeye.
Podium does not publish pricing. Its pricing page directs you to speak with sales, and its Capterra listing shows "Contact vendor" with Core, Pro and Signature plans available by quote. Because of that, any specific Podium price you see quoted online is secondhand. Ask for the total including phone seats and messaging overages, and ask what happens at renewal.
HiFiveStar has a free forever plan for a single location, which makes it the cheapest way to start. Among paid plans, Trophy Jar at $9 per month is the lowest entry price, followed by HiFiveStar at $28. All three are review tools rather than communication suites, so compare them against what you actually use rather than against Podium's full feature list.
No. Your reviews live on your Google Business Profile and stay there regardless of which software you use to request or respond to them. What you lose is the historical message data inside Podium, which is why exporting before cancellation matters.
No. Review volume comes from asking every customer, quickly, in a channel they actually open. A focused tool that sends SMS review requests and helps you respond does that as well as a suite does, usually for less. Suites earn their cost when your team needs one place to handle every inbound channel, not when you simply want more reviews.
For large multi-location and franchise operations, Birdeye is the most complete option. For small to mid-size groups, compare per-location cost carefully: HiFiveStar prices by location count, Reviewly.ai offers per-location plans with an enterprise tier, and GoHighLevel uses sub-accounts, which changes the math significantly at scale.
The reason so many businesses look for a Podium alternative is not that Podium fails at what it does. It is that a lot of people bought a communication suite when what they wanted was more Google reviews. Once you separate those two jobs, the shortlist gets short fast.
If you need every channel in one inbox, Birdeye or Weave will feel familiar. If you resell to clients, GoHighLevel is the obvious home. If you want reviews and not much else, the focused tools on this list will do it for a fraction of the monthly spend, and you can be live in an afternoon.
Reviewly.ai sits in that last group on purpose. We send SMS review requests, draft your responses with AI so replying takes seconds instead of an evening, and show you what is working in a dashboard you will actually open. If that is the job you are trying to get done, you can see it running on your own business before you pay anything.
